In the past, financial planning has typically been provided through a traditional assets under management (AUM) model. You invest money with an advisor and the advisor charges a fee, typically around 1%, to manage that money. However, as the ability and resources to invest and trade have become more accessible to the masses, some people prefer to manage their investments on their own.
That said, there is a lot more to your finances than just your investment portfolio. That’s why, at Birds Eye, we have evolved with the times. While managing investments via an AUM model is certainly an option, we have also implemented a One-Time Financial Planning package for prospective clients.
Why Financial Planning?
As we mentioned above, there are so many different components that go into true financial planning, such as budgets, cash flow planning, retirement planning, college planning, tax planning, estate planning, real estate purchases, and analysis of your investments—even if you’re managing them yourself.
We believe a good financial plan should give you a detailed, complete view of what your finances look like today, a thorough modeling of where you want to be, and the actions you need to take to reach those goals. Depending on your needs, your plan may narrow in on one element or address multiple goals you’d like to achieve over time. Whatever you choose to focus on, your financial plan is designed to serve as your road map, helping you navigate whatever comes your way.
How it Works
The One-Time Financial Planning Package typically starts with a free phone consultation during which we will discuss exactly what parts of your financial plan you are looking for guidance on. We follow up by sending all the required paperwork and disclosures along with a pricing estimate.
If you decide this is the next best step for you, we then have two meetings, either virtually or in person. The first meeting will be a more in-depth review of the financial planning aspect you’d like to focus on. We will discuss your current holdings, your goals for the future, and concerns you have with your current situation. At the second meeting, we will present a full review and evaluation of that particular component of your plan. This may include investment review using Morningstar technology, retirement savings and/or distribution planning, and college savings and/or distribution planning. It will also include a detailed breakdown of your finances from eMoney. See a sample plan here!
